Congratulations to Riverton Blue Marlins who took out the ASAOC Club Sprint Championships title.
President of Riverton Blue Marlins Steve Walker Said "The Riverton Blue Marlins Club is proud to have won the inaugural SWA Club Sprint Championships. The strength of clubs is the fundamental building block to the strength of swimming in WA and this event helped us build our team spirit from our 9 year olds to our 17 year olds - all were shouting for each other".
Dylan Bodey and Shenton McPherson accepted the trophy that marked their victory which was also accompanied with a $500 cheque. Dylan and Shenton thanked their club and in particular the younger swimmers who gained them valuable points.
"We certainly had the largest number of swimmers but more importantly in the top 5 clubs we had the highest points per swimmer and the highest percentage of PB's on the day. We will defend the trophy next year and hopefully the competition will grow as more clubs see its merits"Walker Said.
The ASAOC Club Sprint Championships is a fun and friendly competitive event and is a great way to demonstrate your clubs team spirit. Due to its enormous success the event will be back in 2010 and we urge all clubs and swimmers to get involved and represent their club's team colours.
ASAOC would like to thank the Competition Planning Committee, Officials, Swimmers, Clubs, Volunteers and Parents for their contribution and support of this event.
