At the 2009 Speedo AIS International in Canberra, West Australian and AIS based Tommaso D’Orsogna swam an outstanding race against a strong field of swimmers to take victory in the Men’s 100m Freestyle final last night touching the wall at 49.13.
In the 100m Freestyle heat Tommaso broke the 18yrs 100m freestyle Australian Age & All Comers records. His time of 48.41 broke the previous records of 48.81 (Australian) & 49.05 (All Comers) which were both set by Ian Thorpe bach in 2001.
In the Women’s 200m Freestyle Merindah Dingjan (AIS) took home gold stopping the clock at 1:59.32 followed by Blair Evans from City of Perth in second place with a time of 1:59.72. Evans also took out the Women’s 400m IM Finals at Day 1 of the 2009 Speedo AIS International with a time of 4:42.55.
Fellow West Aussie, Sally Foster (AIS) finished in first place in the Women’s 50m Freestyle touching the wall at 24.85.
