Kieran Perkins to visit Kalgoorlie.
Kieran Perkins.
Olympian Kieran Perkins.

One of Australia's greatest swimmers - Kieren Perkins, is coming to Kalgoorlie courtesy of Qantas.

The dual gold Olympian and former world record holder will be visiting the Goldfields Oasis Recreation Centre to conduct the Qantas Regional Swim Clinics for Frequent Flyers on Sunday 3 July 2005.

The Qantas swim clinic will include personal tuition and demonstrations for children at two levels: beginner and advanced. They include a motivational talk, question and answer session, autograph/photo opportunity and a sausage sizzle lunch for the children with Kieren.

Twenty two local children will be able to attend each level of the class. Entrants must be between 10 -16 years of age, with beginners able to swim the length of a 50-metre pool continuously and comfortably for up to two hours, while children in the advanced class should be swimming at a competitive standard.

Each participant will also receive a Qantas Big Splash Backpack containing a Big Splash water bottle and baseball cap, Superfish goggles and swimming cap plus a Certificate of Participation signed by Kieren.

The swim clinics are part of Qantas' Sharing the Spirit program, a major community initiative by Qantas comprising a series of programs and events designed to bring Australians together: city with the bush, young Australians with their heroes and dreams and frequent flyers with their families.
