ASAOC’s most prestigious awards ceremony, The 2009 Vorgee WA Swimmer of the Year Awards, was held on Saturday 27th June 2009 at the Sheraton Hotel.

The Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) seeks applications from incorporated not for profit community groups and local governments for financial support through the CSRFF.

ASAOC is hosting a JX Hour of Power development session for swimmers who achieved a certain standard in the JX program last year. The session will be run by former Olympians and will feature a short talk and a swim session. These JX Hours of Power will be run at certain points throughout the year for different achievers in the JX program. Swimming Australia Limited is disappointed by FINA’s decision to approve more than 150 swimsuits that were originally banned, or considered in need of modifications, at a swimsuit approval committee meeting in Lausanne in May.

Triple Commonwealth Games medallist and dual Olympian Jennifer Reilly has announced her retirement from competitive swimming.

The Australian Sports Commission advises that there are still Local Sporting Champions grants available across the country this year. The grants are available for young sportsmen and women competing in official state or national sporting competitions. Please see media release attached.
